What I Loved This May
May has come and gone, but not without leaving me with some products and items that I have been loving. This month was a big one, I turned 28, I moved back to Charlotte and I started my blog. And I even had the time to get some cool things. So, here’s what I loved for May 2025 with the links included!
Danessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Skin Mattifying Water Powder Serum with Niacinamide and Hyaluronic Acid
This is a mattifying water-to-powder serum that primes, absorbs shine, and refines skin. This primer is recommended for people with normal, combination and oily skin. Using Kaolin Clay, it absorbs excess sebum that causes oiliness — without drying your skin out. As someone who loves mattifying primers, I love the water like texture of this product. It feels very light and smooth upon application and dries down to a soft matte finish. It doesn’t make my face feel tight and compliments the foundation and concealer combo I use everyday!
When I first got this primer, I didn’t like it. But after reaching for it again a few months later, I realized I was using it wrong. Now with a little more patience and intentional placement, i’ve been obsessed. This is a mattifying primer with a sticky gel formula that is made to grip makeup for long lasting wear. I don’t recommend putting this primer all of your face. It works best when you concentrate it on your t-zone or the most oily region of your face. I combine this primer with the Danessa Myrick Primer for a flawless base.
Sephora Velour Makeup Powder Puff
This is a velour triangle shaped makeup puff made for flawless application of powders and designed for baking and setting your face. I have been a beauty sponge person for as long as beauty sponges have been out. I have recently seen a lot of influencers using a powder puff and I got curious enough to buy it. I love it! I love the finish it gives my under eyes and how it applies my loose powder. If you get anything off this list, get this. The best $8 i’ve spent!
Buxom Full On Plumping Lip Cream in White Russian
This has been my go-to lip gloss for the last few weeks. It’s a creamy, shimmer free lippie that plums the lips and leaves a little tingle. It’s not a sticky formula and it smells like vanilla. I got the shade White Russian, a nude pink. I reccomend pairing this with a dark brown liner, but it looks good on its own! I bought a the mini and plan on repurchasing a full size for June.
Le Monde Gourmand Creme Brulee 144
This perfume is described as a decadent dessert with notes of toasted sugar, black almond and ripe plum. Its sugary, comforting and creamy. It’s the perfect perfume for an aspiring clean girl. The top notes include apricot, roasted almond and black plum. The mid notes include midnight iris, jasmine sambac and violet. The base notes include musk clouds, rum and oak chip. I get stopped and complimented on this scent. It has been my go-to this spring and it’s going to be my go-to this summer too. I linked the perfume, but I got the body mist at Ulta – so I tend to be a pinch heavy handed with it!
BODY by Taraj P. Henson Anything Glows Body Oil
I love incorporating a body oil in the summer to make your skin extra glowy and bright. This body oil is made for dry skin and leaves you feeling sofr and radiant. Infused with Advocado and rosehip oil, it is hydrafting, thin, lightweight and has a really easy application. The packaging is so neutral and smells like vanilla. You can pick this up at Walmart or online!
Trader Joes Brazil Nut Body Butter
Head to your nearest Trader Joes and pick up my favorite seasonal product, the Brazil Nut Body Butter. It’s thick, rich and creamy and smells like summer. This is a repurchase for myself, but this time I got it in celebration of my 28th birthday. It’s suppose to be a dupe of the Sol De Janeiro lotion for a fraction of the price. It’s made with coconut oil, shea butter, acadi extract and brazil nut seed oil. It smells like salted caramel, pistachio, coconut and vanilla. It reminds me of Summer and it’s my most recent obsession. I use this with the matching body wash daily!
The Artist Way is a workbook focused on spirituality and higher creativity. The program inclues morning pages, artist dates and writing exercises, you can be sure to nurture your inner artist. This book has become extremely popular over the last year because Doechii credits the book with her historic rise and documented her artist recovery journey on Youtube. I am wrapping up my second week and have been reflecting on my own understanding of creativity and how I can be th creative I have always thought I was suppose to be. The work this book requires can be very overwhelming and can lead to a lot of uncoverings of yourself. But if you’re into journaling, self discovery and a personal challenge – I totally recommend it.
Kodak Pixpro 45 Digital Camera
Summer is for the digital camera girlies! I got the Kodak Pixpro FX45 on Amazon a few months ago and I have been absolutely obsessed with it! I’ve been taking this camera everywhere and using it to take photos of just about everything. It’s nice not using my phone to capture photos. I notice that digital cameras can catch details that your iPhone just can’t. The camera can take photos and videos and multiple settings for any occasion you may need it for. I’ve used it at concerts, graduations, for personal photos and for photos of my environment. It’s a great starter camera. Be sure to read the bio and buy the correct sim card the first go around!
That’s what i’ve been loving this May. Some beauty, some books and some cameras. I can’t wait to see what i’ll be obsessing over this time next month. So, what are you loving as May comes to a close? Leave your product recommendations below!
